Tennessee Republican Dr. Manny Sethi Weighs Run for Alexander’s U.S. Senate Seat

Dr. Manish “Manny” Sethi, a Republican, is considering running for Lamar Alexander’s U.S. Senate seat, the Nashville Post reported Wednesday.

An orthopedic surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Sethi also serves as director of the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute Center for Health Policy.

The Post reported:

Sethi founded and is the president of Healthy Tennessee, an organization that puts on health fairs around the state and encourages preventative care. He also co-edited a book on health policy with Frist. The Republican doctor was mentioned as a possible candidate to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Bob Corker.

Two Republican sources with knowledge of Sethi’s deliberations confirmed he was considering a run. Earlier this week, an anonymous user registered multiple URLs related to a possible Sethi run for Senate, including drmannyforsenate.com.

Chip Saltsman, a former Tennessee Republican Party chair who said he is friends with Sethi, said the two have discussed a possible Senate run, but Saltsman added that he encouraged Sethi to run only if Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander decides not to seek re-election in 2020, when the incumbent would be 80 years old.

Last month, Sen. Alexander appeared as a guest on The Tennessee Star Report with Steve Gill and Michael Patrick Leahy, broadcast weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. on 98.3 and 1510 WLAC, and said that he would make an announcement as to whether he would run for another term in the U.S. Senate before the end of this year.

Dr. Sethi will be a guest next week on The Tennessee Star Report with Steve Gill and Michael Patrick Leahy.

Listening to Dr. Sethi with Bob Mueller. I agree with everything he has said so far. He will DEFINITELY be on my list to strongly consider. When he said his parents were LEGAL immigrants and were definitely for the wall and felt it was not right to let these illegals in bringing in HIV, heroin, and other drugs when we already have a drug problem convinced me he is one we need in Washington. Also, the fact he is in the medical profession and understands medical insurance needs.

Maybe we should get busy electing Mark Green to the Senate and find a conservative replacement for him in Congress.. He will have had a couple of years in DC by that time.. Tennessee does not need to be hoodwinked by another Bill Lee… We know Dr Green and can count on him!

I will be very interested to listen to Gill Report tomorrow. Steve has a way of flushing out the phony Conservatives. This guy “gets it” and while Nashville is infested and most likely lost to the progressive disease, there are still bright lights out there. And I will NOT vote for Alexander again–

Up here in the mountains of East Tennessee, I’d have a problem voting for anyone from around “Nashville”.

Too much “Liberalism” in that town to suit me.
